Apartment living can afford the mature college student an opportunity to develop much needed life skills while experiencing independence away from home.  Students will learn responsibilities associated with rental fees, sensible and conscientious care for their living space, and the unfortunate reality of paying utility, cable and high speed Internet bills.  The good news is that rents vary from $333.00 to $375.00 (or less) per student each month, where there are three students per apartment.  All other associated expenses mentioned above should be around 10-30% above the rental fee depending on preferred Cable & Internet options, the time of year (cold weather versus temperate weather) per month per student depending on usage of hot water and heat.  The utility expenses could be budgeted with your utility provider so that monthly payments are equal year round.  For a more accurate estimate of your heating costs, you may contact National Grid for previous average usages and billing histories.

Most apartments available will be in 2-unit flats (upstairs and downstairs) and within walking distance to Albany Medical College, Albany College of Pharmacy, Albany Law School, the SAGE Colleges, and St. Rose.

A special note to potential student tenants...
Please accept our advice to carefully consider your choices when planning a move off campus.  While it is less expensive and perhaps affords you more freedom, it is very important that you meet your landlord and consider all
utility costs including heat, electric, cable television, and Internet.  Also, you will need to arrange these services as soon as possible after deciding on an apartment.  Wherever you choose to live, ask for references from previous tenants, know that your landlord is concerned for your safety and that he/she has a good track record of quickly and completely attending to repair work and is available to answer questions.
